First Xmas Together

Our first Xmas as a married couple was spent on the West Coast with the hubby's family. I am told this is a milestone...celebrating or first Xmas together? Hmm, hadn't really thought too much about this until the last couple of days but in many ways it was. I'm not gonna lie, being away from my family for Christmas was pretty sad. I think my direct quote to my dad on Xmas morning was, "this part of the marriage deal kinda sucks." But, despite that, we did manage to have alot of fun here at home, and hubby actually made it very special with a thoughtful “first Xmas as my wife” card and of course some great gifts including the flip video camera; my new obsession! We documented the day and then sent a hilarious video over to my family of it. Between that and Skype it was almost as if they were here with us! So I guess the weekend was a milestone in the sense that I survived my homesickness and didn’t have a complete meltdown. :) It was also a milestone that represents the beginning of our new family and the start of own holiday traditions. That thought leaves me happy and actually okay with all this. So here’s to all the new traditions to come as Mrs. S. in 2010. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!

Wedding Announcement

Our wedding announcement was finally printed in my hometown paper (almost 8 months later) so thought I'd post. Figure I am more likely to look at it again over the years if I added it here. My mom (of course) insisted that we submit this to the paper, which I wasn't psyched about, but it actually turned out okay. Here's to the next 30+ years as Mrs. S!
